May 27, 2025 Newsletter: Computers, Curation and Creators, oh my!

I went to school for film. It’s true. I was Hollywood-bound at one point. Only zero money in my pocket to make the trek, and the meeting of a girl I thought would be the future Mrs. Beeler.Tech (she wasn’t) kept me from going. To think, I could have directed Dead Poets Society II: Community College or Snow White and the Se7en Dwarfs (“Snow White, what’s in the box? What’s in the box?").

While my film career never started, I get to apply my creative energies toward the agendas of our events. For Navigator London, the script is set, and we are ready to shoot. First, we must talk about gen-AI because every movie needs at least one antagonist. Paul Hood will help us understand who and what we are dealing with. The AI arc is still unfolding, so we need to jump to all the other storylines, which include curation, identifiers, direct sold innovation, and much more. Not every storyline interests everyone else, so you get to choose your adventure. We end the day (but not the discussions) talking about what the future of publishing might look like. Like it or not, individual creators will play a part.

Navigator London is just one installment of a much larger franchise. More is on the way. Here’s the thing: in the movie they’ll make about digital publishers, I believe we are reaching a point in the story where we come together and a plan begins to take shape.

Why would you want to miss that?

The Smart Moves Behind Boostr AMP UP 2025

We couldn’t be at Boostr’s AMP UP event this year, but we followed the action closely. So, we sat down with Boostr’s co-founder and Chief Customer Officer Katie Schuele to talk about what the event is really about: surfacing real challenges, spotlighting strategic solutions, and celebrating the operators who are pushing our industry forward. From Client Awards to the evolution of how data drives business decisions, catch up on AMP UP 2025 with our exclusive conversation.

You’ve got questions, Navigator London on June 10 has the answers

What does it take to keep control of your data, your revenue, and your future as a publisher? What happens when platforms close in, identity resets again, and every part of your stack gets more expensive? And how are teams actually growing revenue (not just protecting it) in the middle of all this?

These are the real questions publishers like you are asking, and they’re the ones we’re unpacking together at Navigator London on June 10.

Here’s a snapshot of our extensive agenda:

  • The Big Identity ResetDanny Spears (COO, Ozone) and Alessandro De Zanche (Founder, not just ADZ) are challenging publishers to stop filling gaps and start building the identity future we need.
  • The Barometer ReportDuncan Arthur (COO, LongTerm CoLab) and Jon Longhurst (CEO, LongTerm CoLab) break down what publishers say they’re focused on right now — and what’s paying off.
  • Walled Gardens or Ivy-Covered Prisons?James Harris (VP Strategy & Planning, WPP) and Fern Potter (SVP, Growth & Strategy, Multilocal Media) lead a bold conversation about what programmatic could become if we stopped accepting the status quo.
  • Maximizing Revenue with 100% Video CoverageMelissa Murray (Commercial Ops Director, Carwow) and Alex Dawson-Smith (Global Biz Dev Director, EX.CO) show how publishers are boosting yield with full-site video strategies and contextual recs that actually work.
  • Stacking Your Stack to Maximize MarginsTobias Hauschild (Kronen Zeitung) and Sherzod Rizaev (Assertive Yield) break down what a performant, cost-effective ad stack really looks like today.
  • Data Portability and Consent Isabella De Michelis di Slonghello (Founder & CEO, ErnieApp Ltd.) makes the case for future-proofing your compliance strategy by putting users in control, and giving them a reason to opt in.
  • Innovation Upon InnovationIn our closing keynote, Hannah Blake (Managing Director, Eliza) ends the day with a look inside how she built a creator-led business within a traditional publisher — and how editorial and commercial teams can move together, not in parallel.

If you're ready to get in a room where the people next to you are asking the same hard questions (and working just as hard to find answers) this is your event.

Time is running out. Raise your hand to join us in London. We’ll see you there.

June 4 in NYC. The industry’s coming to town, and so are we!

First up: the IAB Tech Lab Summit during the day. Then that night, it’s time for something a little less… scripted.

Beeler•BASH is back, folks.

That’s right. While NYC fills up with panels, pitches, and polished talking points, we’re doing what we always do. We throw the one ad ops event where none of that matters. No decks. No demos. Just a room full of ad ops, ad tech, and publishing pros who’d rather talk shop over drinks than on stage.

And this year, we want you to bring your people. The folks you work with, partner with, or just text during vendor calls. If they’re part of the ecosystem, they’re welcome. This night is about community, not credentials. And maybe a dance-off. We’ll see!

Here’s how to get in:

  1. First, tell us you want to attend. Yes, it’s free, but we need your name at the door. So, request an invite now.
  2. And if you want to attend the IAB Tech Lab summit earlier that day, you can save 25% with our code BeelerSummit at registration.

See you on June 4!

You’ve got decisions to make. These are the rooms that help you make them.

The second half of the year is coming fast, and the pressure isn’t letting up. More to fix, more to rethink, more riding on the choices you make. And we have three events to help you get the right work done:

  • Base•Camp Savannah kicks off October 5. If you’ve been to Base•Camp, you know the deal: sleeves rolled up, honest takes, and a group of people ready to work through the challenges we face as an industry, not just rehash what’s broken.
  • Digital Day Camp returns to Toronto on October 22. One day. One room. Shared ground with Canada’s digital media leaders. Registration is open. If you’ve been looking for a place to cut the spin and get clarity, this is it.
  • Base•Camp Lisbon closes out the season November 2-5. We’re bringing the magic of Base•Camp to Europe. Bring your context, your open questions, and your willingness to collaborate.

If you see yourself in one of these rooms, tell us now. These events are built around the people in them. So, the sooner we know you’re coming, the better we can shape the conversation.
