Jan 21, 2025 Newsletter: CTV: Its about time!

I sat down with Andrew Rosenman on Friday at the Bell Works building. Quick aside: Andrew and I work where they filmed the AppleTV series Severance, which is very weird when you think we choose to work in a place used as the backdrop for a dystopian work hellhole.

We met to plot out our expansion of CTV discussions at Base•Camp Red Rock Canyon, Navigator NYC and, fingers-crossed, further into the year. CTV isn’t display advertising: It’s about time. Think of revenue per second as your metric of the future. While it’s not on the Base•Camp event page yet, expect a track dedicated to CTV with sessions covering AVOD, SVOD, and live streaming. The sessions will be in the same format everyone else tries to copy but can’t quite reproduce. Isn’t it time you joined us? <ba-dum-tss>

On Friday, I also talked to Scott Messer from Messer Media. He’ll be joining us in Red Rock Canyon. You thought I was going to say to discuss curation, right? It’s bigger than that: curation is a symptom of bigger changes in the programmatic landscape. It’s a reaction. Let’s talk about the real issues.

I also talked on Friday to our keynote speaker, Sam Adler, from The Ask for More Group, and I can’t wait. A skill they don’t teach in Ops School is how to negotiate. Sam will speak to the whole group and then lead a breakout session discussion specifically designed for women.

There’s more to talk about, but I don’t have room! Some essentials:

TD Foundation Holiday Gala - HUGE honor to be involved. I will post pics and thoughts on LinkedIn.

Next weekend, I’ll be at IAB ALM leading an incredible panel: “Achieving Interoperability in a Fragmented Ecosystem”

Then I am back from Palm Springs just long enough to head to London with the team and Tom Triscari for the AdTech Economic Forum London event:

This event is wholly different from anything you have ever attended before. Conversations with industry-leading deal makers kicking off the morning. Then pitches from AdTech founders, explaining their thesis and why you should be rooting for or investing in them. Learn more here.

  3. The Uninspired Marketer Working for a Brand or Agency
  4. The Mature AdTech Player in an Acquisitive Mode
