Heading off to Possible and James’ note has buoyed my spirits. It sounds like he had a worse week than I did, but it serves as a reminder that, at the end of the day, this is a relationship-based industry. I am not sure how someone hasn’t connected James and me before, but you are all now on notice.
A big thing happened this week, which is that an even bigger thing isn’t going to happen. Google will not be rolling out a new standalone user prompt, and third-party cookies – the "cockroaches" that they are – will live to see another day. Future digital archeologists will marvel that, for all our innovation, third-party cookies outlasted us all. Let’s hope I’m wrong.
Here’s my take: just like the show Last of Us, a major character is no longer driving the plot forward. Oh, they will always be a part of the story, but we find ourselves as an industry stuck having to push on, but it’s a bit unclear who to rally around.
Which is why the conversation with James was so refreshing. It was a week of working our asses off to figure out what can be done to help publishers prosper. Say what you want about Sandbox or DOJ, nothing got any easier for publishers. However, James and I discussed a return to simplicity. Curation and such topics are complicated BECAUSE WE ALLOW THEM TO BE COMPLICATED. We equate complicated with clever. We accept bullshit. Let’s move on.
That’s the goal next week at Navigator New York (35+ speakers, 25+ sessions!) and Navigator London on June 10. James will be joining us as a speaker. I can’t wait. Please join us.
OK, folks. We are ONE WEEK AWAY from Navigator NYC.
So, let’s get right to the point. The agenda is still moving. A few sessions have shifted. More names have been added. More of the conversations you said you wanted are lined up and ready to go.
If you’re already joining us next week, now is the time to start planning your day.
If you’re not, now’s the time to make your move. The room is filling fast. The discussions you need to be a part of are about to happen. Raise your hand while there’s still time.
The Navigator London agenda keeps getting better!
Today, we’re excited to announce that Hannah Blake, Co-founder and Managing Director Of Eliza, will be joining us on June 10 in London as our closing keynote speaker. Hannah will help us close out the day with a powerful conversation on what it takes to keep evolving when the ground keeps shifting beneath our feet.
In her talk, Hannah will share how she built a creator-led social business inside DMG, blending editorial and commercial teams, introducing new models, and driving change from within.
Publishing has no single playbook anymore, which is why we need this session. Together, we’ll learn how to adapt, lead, and move first when there’s no clear map.
The agenda is still expanding and sharpening, and so is the room.
Raise your hand to attend Navigator London if you’re ready to challenge assumptions, push for real outcomes, and make the work better.
Beeler•BASH is back! No agenda. No pressure. Just your people.
Every year, early June rolls around and we’re reminded that no one throws a party for the people who actually keep our industry moving. So we do.
Beeler•BASH is the one night where AdOps and publisher folks like you get to come together off the clock. No keynotes. No panels. No sales pitches. You don’t need to prep. You just need to show up. The drinks, music, food, and camaraderie will all be waiting for you.
See you on June 4 at RUMI in New York City.
Want an invite? Request one.
P.S. This is for publishers only, folks.
We’re not waiting until next year to have the conversations that matter.
