April 14, 2025 Newsletter: Quick Recap on Digital Day Camp & What’s Next

What. A. Day. The Canadian marketplace came out last week, packed the room, and made the most of our time together. More recap to come, but here are some snackable takeaways that everyone can benefit from:

  • We heard three words this week that you don’t hear at ad tech conferences: magic, bravery, and passion. Each word came up several times and in several contexts. The future of publishing and agencies will be based on all three.
  • Diversity and Inclusion is good business. We started the day on this note, and we ended it there as well. While DEI is systematically being removed from our schools and elsewhere in the US, the fact is that underrepresented people still exist, they are consumers, and creating a connection with them as publishers and advertisers will drive future success. In Canada, this isn’t a shocking statement.
  • USP: My new favorite acronym. Agencies and publishers alike were talking about unique selling propositions. Big tech has made everything transactional, but lest we forget: this is advertising and the magic is what moves minds.

There is so much more to say and so many people to thank. David U.K. knows how to bring people together, and we plan to do so again this fall. Yup, the official announcement is coming soon.

Two. Whole. Weeks. Off. The. Road. (I’m writing like this to drive my team nuts.) Believe it. Next up, though, is Possible. They might not consider me an influencer, but I’ll be there hanging around the cabanas and I’m sure to drop by the GeoEdge Brunch, I’m cohosting a lunch with IntentIQ (pubs, hit me up!), I’ll be at the Taboola Happy Hour and all things Strangers No More.

All that Miami fun will morph right into Navigator New York…

3 weeks out, the Navigator NYC agenda keeps getting better.

The Navigator NYC agenda keeps growing. More sessions, better questions, and conversations that lead to real decisions:

Agency Data Strategies:

Hibo Ali Griffin (Group Director, CAM, IPG Mediabrands & Allie)

Hibo brings the agency lens to the table, tackling how data can become a common language across both sides of the ecosystem.

Ad Tech Spring Cleaning: Actions to Refresh & Maximize Yield in a Tough Market:

Jeremy Gan (EVP, Advertising, DailyMail.com)

Hidden inefficiencies drain revenue. Jeremy walks through overlooked levers that are still worth pulling.

Compliance Is a Balancing Act:

Daniel Rosenzweig (Founder & Principal Attorney, DBR Data Privacy Solutions)

Overcompliance is just as risky as getting it wrong. Daniel lays out how to strike the right balance without slowing growth.

Curating the Curators:

Garth Glaser (Founder, Gareth Hates AdTech) and Scott Messer (RevOps Leader, Media Operator, AdTech Therapist, Messer Media)

Who decides what gets visibility? This session challenges how you think about inventory and who’s shaping its value.

Dealing with the Deluge of Deal IDs:

Will Doherty (SVP, Inventory Development, The Trade Desk)

The deal ID problem isn’t going away. This session digs into how to clean it up and get smarter about how we use them.

The Navigator London agenda is live.

Last week, we introduced two of our first Navigator London speakers: Paul Hood on why AI can’t wait, and Nikki Sehgal on how inclusion drives real revenue. Now, the rest of the Navigator London agenda is here, and it’s full of the conversations that need to happen.

Here’s a preview of what’s on deck:

  • How the smartest teams are using AI to cut chaos, not corners
  • The quiet collapse of trust in the vendor landscape and what publishers are doing about it
  • What it takes to build a smarter first-party data strategy
  • What happens when your tech stack is smarter than your budget
  • The operational strategies that are actually moving the needle (and the ones that aren’t)
  • How smaller publishers are still winning

We’re still building the agenda, and we want your voice in it. Got a challenge, idea, or story worth exploring? Reply to this email, we want to hear from you.

See you on June 10 at Navigator London!
